Okay okay, they aren't quite engaged...but they live together and have been dating for a while and it's easier to blog that way ;) Allie and Andy modeled for me for a video I needed to do as part of my Photographing Weddings workshop for Clickin Moms University. They were so much fun to shoot and the perfect subjects!
Devin & Jeremy's Seattle Engagement Session
I had so much fun hanging out with Devin and Jeremy on a gorgeous Sunday morning here in Seattle. We met at their apartment were I got to meet their cats and then we explored the neighborhood as we took photos. I learned a lot about them even before the shoot, so I will let their own words tell their story :) From Devin: We met at a Lifelong AIDS Alliance fundraiser and were friends beforehand for about 3 years. He was my go-to for being me, silly, care-free and down for whatever. We had many adventures together before we saw the light and realized the depth of our friendship and felt it natural and perfect to take it to the next level (my mom always said marry your best friend!).
We love just existing next to each other. Not always needing to do the same thing but often that is the case. We are both very goofy and thoughtful people which makes for spontaneous and seemingly random conversations between long and diligent silences. The beginnings of our friendship centered around walking and talking where we would wander around Capitol Hill and talk about anything and everything. Now it seems to center around food and stories about my day. We both love the outdoors and travel. I get stir crazy and feel most at peace in the wilderness or near the ocean. I want the quiet thrill of shared stories, places, experiences that we are able to have together.
He lets me be me and loves me for it. I can be ridiculous and he just smiles. He also is more sensitive than me which I appreciate and I admire his ability to know whether to give insight or just listen. He is my "Yes" man whenever I may doubt.
...and from Jeremy: I definitely echo what Devin said about us. It truly is a dream to be marrying my best friend. One that accepts me for who I am and loves to be carefree and goofy with no inhibitions.
I am so happy for the two of you!! Congratulations again on your engagement and thanks for being totally awesome during our shoot :)
A Surprise Proposal at the Paramount Theater
I live for stuff like this. When Chris asked if I would be interested in photographing his proposal to his girlfriend Nicole I said, "I'm in!" He arranged for a semi private guided tour of the historic Paramount Theater here in Seattle after the evening performance of Dirty Dancing. Nicole loves theater and had seen Dirty Dancing on it's opening night. I was a "friend of the tour guide" who was just tagging along and taking photos for a project. I was so worried that Nicole would start asking me questions, but thankfully she was so wrapped up in the tour that it never came up :) Our tour guide, Julia, was of course in on the plans and pulled off the surprise beautifully! We ended the tour on stage, looking out over the vast empty seats, when Chris got down on one knee and asked Nicole to marry him. I only wish I could have been recording video at the same time as I was photographing because her reaction was PERFECT. Lots of squealing and "Oh my god!!"s were heard. She said yes (duh) and later that night Chris emailed and said that she told him it was truly her dream proposal. I am so proud of Chris for keeping his cool and pulling off such a beautiful proposal. Men everywhere...take notes! I was swooning in the romance of it all.
