The Garry Family | San Francisco Family Photographer

This was my second session in San Francisco since moving back from Seattle. Oh, how I missed this beautiful place! Baker Beach is a hard place to shoot on a sunny weekend in the summer - soooo many people! However, if you can make it work it's so very worth it. With five children, aged 2 through 10, there was a lot of fun to be had. I knew that given our location and the amount/ages of the family I was going to shoot in a more documentary style. I wanted everyone to feel un-stressed and have the opportunity to play on the beach and have fun. That's exactly what they did! We snuck in a few posed photos too of course ;) The Garry family is from Alberta, Canada and drove their awesome vintage motorhome down to LA and then back up the coast again. What an adventure! I am so happy we were able to capture them not just on the beach and with the Golden Gate, but also with their home on wheels.

How beautiful are their children!?

The Harrison Family | Los Altos Family Photographer

Amber called me and said that she wanted to book a family session, and fast. Why? Because her 7 year old son had just lost his second front tooth and she wanted to capture that sweet and adorable time in his life. I knew that she would be a great client - the kind of client who sees the value in moments...real moments, not just pretty moments. So, we got together on a warm summer evening and had a great time running around, tickling, laughing, and being silly with her two boys. There is nothing that I love more than big laughs and adding in a toothless grin made me so very happy! Amber is a Style & Trend expert for Shutterfly. Pretty cool, right? I kinda stalk her now. Shhh ;)

Thanks for being an awesome mom, Amber! Your family is beautiful!

Seattle Studio Family Photographer | Mommy and Me!

A couple of weekends ago I did some Mother's Day mini sessions in my Seattle studio. It is so wonderful to photograph the natural connection between a mother and her child, whether they are 6 months old, 16 years old, or 60 years old. As mothers, too often we are the one behind the camera instead in front of it. We deserve to be documented because we, as mothers, as so very important. This little lady happened to be 6 months old. I love the candid feel of just playing around on a bed because that's something I did so frequently when my children were babies. I absolutely love having my studio for this age of baby because we don't have to worry about pokey grass, bugs, or the hard ground.

Photographing motherhood must be in the air lately because I have two maternity sessions this weekend and my last 5 client inquiries have been for maternity photography!

Aren't these two just beautiful?! Sweet baby E was so curious about my camera!
